Who can we support?

Our services can be used by all persons of legal age who:

  • have one or more physical, mental or psychological limitations
  • are at least 18 years old
  • have their place of residence in Frankfurt or the Offenbach district
  • have a residence permit [*]
  • live or want to live in their own apartment, with their parents, with their partner or in a shared apartment
  • can recieve integration assistance benefits in accordance German Social Assistance Act (Section 90 SGB XI ff.) [**]

Target group and assumption of costs:

According to German social law, all persons with physical, mental and/or psychological disabilities have a legal right to benefits from integration assistance, provided that their impairments are not merely temporary.

Usually the costs for the resulting benefits are covered by the regional social welfare agency, in our case the “Landeswohlfahrtsverband” of the state of Hesse (LWV). (There is also the option of paying for the costs as a self-payer as part of a private contract.)

Migrants and asylum seekers usually need a residence permit in order to receive integration assistance. [*] In particularly severe cases, immigrants without a residence permit who have been living in Germany for 18 months without a break can also receive integration assistance.

The ASESIT team will help you determine whether you are entitled to benefits and whether the benefits you want will be paid for. [**] So if you are not sure, just ask us! We determine for you which are the existing options for support. (This service is of course free of any charge!)

ASESIT does not raise any exclusion criteria for the admission of new clients to our services: If you meet the criteria mentioned above, your age, your gender, your origin and your views do not matter to us!

How do we work?

ASESIT is an independent provider of municipal integration assistance in Frankfurt and the Offenbach district. All of our care, advice and support services are in accordance with the German Social Assistance Act on integration assistance (§§ 90-150 SGB IX).

We always determine the type, duration and intensity of the services individually in conversation with our clients. The support should therefore be oriented towards your individual needs and pursued with your active participation. For this purpose, ASESIT will provide you with a personal contact person who you can choose yourself after getting to know each other. For the services, we will only visit you in your apartment by prior arrangement and only stay there for an agreed time.

The aim of all of our services is to give you the greatest possible space for free and self-determined development of your individual life possibilities and goals. To this end, we try to uncover, optimize and expand your own skills and resources as much as possible.

In order to strengthen your freedom of action and movement, we also help you integrate into your social environment. This includes the relationship with family members as well as your working life and participation in social institutions. It is particularly important to us to create opportunities for an intercultural exchange.

ASESIT wants to be a social shelter for it’s clients. We are resolutely committed to more intercultural competence and migrant representation in the German handicapped aid. Our work is accordingly based on the principles of humanity, holism, participation, interculturality and anti-discrimination.

We offer our services in several mother tongues of our clients, including (except German):

  • Amharic
  • Arabic
  • Croatian
  • English
  • Greek
  • Serbian
  • Tigrinya
  • Turkish

Please keep in mind that we are not a helpline

Unfortunately we do not have enough time and staff to answer all questions that are not related to a need for inclusion due to physical, mental and psychological ‚disabilities‘. We therefore ask you to contact the counseling centers designated for this purpose, if possible. – Thanks a lot!

> Adult migrants can contact the regional offices of migration counseling in Frankfurt or the Offenbach district, for example, on questions of residency law and social law. You can find an overview here (Offenbach district).
